Run the city that never sleeps! This famous 26.2 mile course leads runners through a full tour of New York City’s five boroughs. Start in Staten Island and continue through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx before the grand finale in Central Park. This race is known for its crowd support, elite racers, and celebrity sightings.

Beginning on March 3rd OAR will begin offering entries to runners that are on our wait list.

Runners who qualify for guaranteed entry and register for the race on their own can join the RUN FOR AUTISM team at any time and fundraise for OAR. Runners who are selected through the general entry drawing  are also invited to join the RUN FOR AUTISM team.

Fundraising

Runners who register for the race with a charity entry must commit to a $3,000 fundraising minimum, per NYRR requirements. Runners with their own race entry are asked to raise $250 for OAR to receive all team benefits.

All fundraising is due one month after the race: December 5, 2017.

Training

All RUN FOR AUTISM – NYC Team members will have the opportunity to receive FREE virtual training from Kopf Running.  Kopf Running is an endurance training company that provides customized group and virtual training programs, endurance event management consultation, and charity race team support. Kopf Running is OAR’s training provider for our 2017 TCS NYC Marathon Team.  Kopf prides themselves on their comprehensive, convenient, and well-rounded approach to helping others achieve their fitness goals. Kopf Running’s coaches are certified and have helped hundreds of runners to safely and enjoyably cross the finish line of road races varying from 5K’s to full marathons.

As the only private event to shut down the famed Las Vegas Strip, this is a unique opportunity for marathoners and half marathoners of all backgrounds. With the race starting just as the sun is setting, the city comes to life with lights shining like you have never seen before. Even when the course moves off the Strip, music and lights will keep you moving one foot in front of the other, all the way back to the finish line!

OAR is pleased to offer the DIY – Athletic Events program, which allows you to participate in any run, walk, triathlon or other event- anywhere, anytime, at any distance.

Simply sign-up for the race and start getting family, friends and others to sponsor you as you dedicate your athletic competition to raising funds for autism research.

Share your story about why you decided to RUN FOR AUTISM. Make sure to add photos!

4. Start fundraising
Use social media and email to share your page with friends and family. You may want to consider making a donation to your page before you send it out so that people know you are serious about this cause.

Fundraising

DIY – Athletic Events team members are encouraged to set their own fundraising goal. There is no “right” number; your commitment is what matters. Still, there is no harm in setting a lofty goal. You will likely be surprised by the number of people who will want to support you and this worthy cause.

If you are running a half or full marathon, consider setting a goal of $1,310 or $2,620 to match your mileage. Runners who raise $2,500 or more receive an OAR runner’s jacket as a special “thank you.”

HERO entry

OAR has limited HERO entries available.  Entries are on a first come first serve basis. Click here to register as a HERO.

  • HERO entries are guaranteed registrations into the 2018 Chevron Houston Marathon or Aramco Houston Half Marathon by making a one-time tax-deductible donation of at least $350 to an official Run for a Reason charity, plus the cost of registration.

Join the RUN FOR AUTISM for the world’s largest charitable event–the Virgin Money London Marathon. This race is known for its crowd support, “fancy dress” costumes, and famous landmarks. Highlights of the course include scenic Greenwich, the Tower Bridge, revelry at the Isle of Dogs, the Thames River, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace.

OAR is honored to participate in this prestigious event, receiving reserved charity entries for our always impressive runners and fundraisers. OAR has a limited number of charity bibs available, but those who have received entry through the lottery are also invited to sign up with the RUN FOR AUTISM team
